The IRC is on the ground supporting tens of thousands of Syrian families who have fled Aleppo following months of besiegement and aerial bombardment. In the past few weeks, around 4,000 people have arrived in Al Dana town, 20 miles from Aleppo in eastern Idleb province as the fighting for control of Aleppo has intensified. After delays and false starts the evacuations have begun last week, with the first convoy of 13 ambulances and 20 buses including 200 wounded people. An IRC ambulance transported 11 of the critically wounded to the border so they could receive specialist care in Turkey. Many of the new arrivals are living in unfinished building without heating, toilets or running water. The vast majority are women, children or the elderly. IRC teams identified families desperately needing food, fuel and essential items including mattresses, blankets, soap and towels. To help ensure people can purchase the basics they need, the IRC will be giving £80 to the most vulnerable families to support their immediate needs.Your support today will help us reach many more Syrian families fleeing Aleppo who require urgent humanitarian assistance. Your donation* will be matched pound for pound by the Asfari Foundation, up to when the £100,000 match limit has been reached.*Matched donations still available
